The US had... One of the world's largest populations. An incredible treasure of easily exploitable resources. Plenty of brainpower. The world's largest navy tied with the UK. The only reason the UK was the dominant super power during the 19th century was because if its navy. Germany and Russia could field massive armies, but what is the use of that if those armies cannot be fed or armed? Those armies are not a global threat if they cannot be projected across vast distances. By WWI, the US had reached naval parity with the UK and was absolutely capable of going way beyond the UK in a short amount of time. During the war itself, the US raised, equipped, trained, shipped and supplied a 3 million man army across 3000 miles of ocean in less than a year. Russia or Germany were *never* capable of that. Force Projection is the true benchmark of global power, and by WWI, the US was the world leader.
