Soccer Corner Kick Formations
can some1 explain me formations in soccer ?
i need to know 3 things ...how do formations work AND in a formation if the defender is at the back how can he come in the front like the forwards? a defender should stay at the back only right? pleez tell me...another question is that when there is a corner kick....how come the defender of the team which got the corner, come in front and score goals? im new to all this so please help....and ull recieve 10 points.......
Simple Formation
4-4-2
4 - Defenders
4 - Midfield
2 - Strikers
(And 1 goalkeeper)
This is the standard formation most teams will use, I could waffle on about diamond midfield, christmas tree formation and so on, but i wont, it all depends on who are playong for the team (ie injuries), and who they are playing against.
A defender can move anywhere on the pitch, same as any player, in any position. But that is ill advised as you would be short in defence if the defender starts to go on walkies.
Most denfenders (central ones) are very tall and powerful, so when their team, gets a set piece (free kick or corner), the two central defenders go up to the opposition penalty box, to use thier height and power to score from the set piece.
Also if a defender oes for a run with the ball, a team mate will or should cover his position, so if he loses the ball, back up is there.
Hope this helps.

FM2009 - Simao score directly from corner kick !
a few soccer questions? im new!?
ok so when the ball goes out of bounds on the sidelines the last person to touch the ball on the opposing team that kicked it out throws it back in right? and who should you throw it to?
and can you explain a simple formation to me? i had no idea what to do and this girl told me to get into a triangle...?
and what is and who does the goal kick and corner kick?
thanks soo much! i have practice son and i have no one to ask before then
if any player from 'team a' kicks the ball out, then it is 'team b's' throw-in. any player from team b can take the throw-in. it'd probably be a good idea to throw it to someone on your own team...
in the context of formations, a triangle is a bit vague... you should probably ask your coach. if this is a drill, i'd guess a triangle means pair up with two other people and do whatever activity you've been asked to do.
anyone, theoretically, can take the goal kick or corner kick. usually, the goalkeeper will take the goal kick, and an outfield player will take the corner kick.
