Maybe I'm just a naive American, but can anyone explain the riots/fires/murders/destroying stadiums over soccer

I just don't get it. U.S. football fans are crazy about the game, but we don't kill anyone or try to burn the stadium down or require riot police to disperse the crowd. What is the cultural difference that leads to this violence?

Nationalism is merely reflected in our football, which is pretty much the ONLY international game we UKers tend to play. Well, that's a "trendy" game.

Violent Soccer Fans

Did it ever happen with World Cup?

Did FIFA ever strip off, the host the privilege of upcoming WC in case of violence, and bad safety condition? Russia had a murder in soccer fans situation last weekend. Violence escalates there. What if it is getting worse?
Thanks

Yeah it has happened like the other guy said with Columbia being originally selected to host the 1986 world cup but it wont happen for either Russia in 2018 or Qatar 2022. Like most things in the world it all comes down to money. Whether it be bribes or commercial opportunities. Nothing else makes sense about these selections Qatar have suggested hosting the world cup in January cause it too hot in the summer...dont have the world cup then! Can you imagine if your American football Superbowl was to be held in the Middle East at times inconvenient for Americans? Russian football has problems with violence and racism the country has problems with finances and infrastructure. Qatar is too hot too small no people to fill the stadiums noone to use the stadiums after the world cup you cant drink in Qatar and gays and women and Israel are not welcome they dont seem like the best places to host world cups to me!
