Why won't my Visiontek Radeon X1550 work on my computer?
Getting to the point quickly: I have recently purchased a Visiontek Radeon X1550 256MB DDR2 AGP DVI VGA HDTV Out Video Card to upgrade my computer's video capacity. I get the 8 beep error with the video card when I install it. Yes, I snapped it into place properly. Yes, I plugged it into the computer's power.
I have an older machine. My AGP slot is a 1.5V, 4x slot. My current working card is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro. The Geek Squad called it prehistoric (working on something else).
My new card is structured as an AGP 3.0 (4X/8X) graphics card, and AMD seems to think that this should be compatible with my an AGP 1.5V (4X) slot. See the bottom of:

My computer can supply voltage as low as 1.6, and should be good enough.
Are there BIOS settings I need to attend to? Some other hardware issues I haven't thought of yet?
In my opinion, I think you may want to check the IRQ or interrupt setting for the video card on your computer. If you check what the IRQ for the current Nvidia Riva card is when installed, and see if the Visiontech Radeon card when installed, is also capturing or is assigned to the same IRQ. If not you may want to manually assign it.
